These guys are very friendly and helpful. They are used to all kinds of questions and inexperience/ignorance - don't be intimidated! No problem too small, they will help if they can.Although the shelves don't always look massively well stocked, don't panic, they have so much stock hidden away. Ask and ye shall be given. This is proper old school hardware store, but a little bit of me still wishes they hadn't moved from previous location. There was something about going in to the saw shed or the other spaces that really felt like going back in time.
I got EXACTLY what I wanted, ONE 13amp fuse ONLT.. Didnt have to buy 5 others I didnt want in a little plastic and cardboard packet! York Supplies is a gem you lucky local residents -- use it! Service is second to none.

A great traditional hardware shop with an excellent selection of plants and garden things. I always go here first for any hardware needs. They cut keys and sharpen tools as well. They have a fantastic selection of screws, nuts and bolts and will sell them individually or in small quantities.
Always willing to help and advise. Has done lots of bespoke jobs for me that you couldn't get done anywhere else. Highly recommended for anything from bedding plants and pots to drill bits, saw blades and tools.
