Not quite as elegant as it was a few years ago, it still retains some of the splendour that the victorians must have felt when stopping at the nearby grand hotel. Try to ignore the more garish of the shops and note the oddities hidden away, you won't be disappointed. Look up and the painted ceilings alone are worth a diversion. One of those hidden bits of Birmingham where you can forget the hubbub of the city.
A great example of traditional Birmingham City shopping. Attractive Arcade with high quality goods. Recommended for the discerning shopper. This area of the city has some very good shops. There is a Japanese store that I visit for its unusual, surprising and very high quality ranges of goods. There are specialist high quality tailors as well as shopping gems hidden in all corners
Love this beautiful historic arcade, good choice of shops but I absolutely love The Victorian Restaurant here, beautifully quaint and quiet, customer service is very friendly and excellent, food and drink superb, best place in Birmingham City Centre that I've found where you can dine in perfect surroundings that are quiet, too often places are loud. Coffee is divine!
We love walking through the Great Western Arcade in Birmingham. It's like walking back in time. You can almost imagine the ladies and gentlemen of the day walking past or looking in the shop windows at the wares for sale. The ladies going into the tea shop. Well that I suppose is history. There are a few shops there like cafes, restaurant, a pen shop both my favourite shops. There are shops that sell clothes. You would be amazed at those clothes. You can travel by either bus, tram or train or by car and is easy to find, if you go by tram. I go find if you need the toilet while at the Great Western Arcade best if you went to one of the cafes.Next time you go to Birmingham why not pay a visit if it's just to walk through while there feel the nostalgia. It's great.
Love this place. Have been going here for years. Try out the olde fashion sweet shop, just like when you were a kid. Also the bread shop. So good. The cakes are fabulous.
