Has everything you need but a bit soulless/clinical compared to the old one!
Cozy place to study but always crowded at the end of semester
Nice building and calm environment but not nearly enough seating. Dont expect to find somewhere to work from March onwards.
From a law student: love 24h library during term and exams, but the place is so busy at peak hours it's often not worth even checking for a desk. But! At least they're aware and making an effort: they started tracking and posting occupancy on the uni website, and leaving tickets on disused materials in a study spot so you to clear them away and sit if the owner has been gone for over an hour.
The new library is truly astounding, with a great low-priced cafe, and comfortable study areas throughout the levels, including several on the ground floor. University swipe card needed for entry. Loaning and returning books is all done electronically. I would like to see all study tables however have dividers for privacy. These tables are already in 'quiet zones' and I believe they will help independent study. Also, I do find myself queuing often when printing things out - perhaps an extra printer on each level? Other than this, it's very good, open and spacious, and the lifts are a good addition.
