It is free. This building has limited signs to find the entrance. You can go up to it not via a stepped route. The entrance is marked with a big flag. Please note that there is no parking or limited. The museum itself is accessible using wheelchairs or taking children in a pram but getting there either if disabled or with young children in a pram is interesting. Get ready to find the long path.Inside the museum has a range of displays also at a range of heights. They have clearly marked information. They also have clipboards and activities for children, suitable for 2-5.They had two large dinosaur bone models and several skulls. As well as a wall of rocks and a good display on precious gemstones.They have some seating as well, if you need a break whilst looking.They have a few interactive displays.They have a specially designed school room.There is no museum cafe but a Starbucks and Costa in walking distance both have no parking.I enjoyed it and think an age of ranges would enjoy this.
Brilliant. Obviously gonna like it as a geologist :) Family found really interesting. Lovely building and fantastic collection. Loved the rock wall with lots different types and card to test your knowledge. Mineral collection superb
As a former student in the faculty of geology it was interesting to see what's changed in the Lapworth museum in the last 20 years. I'm aware it was voted one of the museums of the year after a refit last year.It's light and airy, with a variety of fossils which will really get the kids interested in the subject, although there's more about minerals and rock samples too.I liked that it reused some of the old display cabinets from my day. With some interactive elements and videos. Seems really set up for a casual visit or school trips. Was a nice way to spend up to an hour, and the Barber institute is not far away if you want a change of pace.
Small but fascinating museum packed full of information and things to touch and interact with.Beautiful setting, huge collection in of gems and minerals, fossils and casts from ever eara of life on earth. Great for kids and adults alike!
A little hidden treasure in the middle of the uni! If you have little dinosaur lovers you have to bring them. It is a family friendly museum, the entry is free and there are a few activities for children which suit different age groups. You can also find a selection of kids geology themed books to read while there. From time to time and quite regularly during half term they organize events for children. There is a little shop selling gadgets, snacks and hot drinks. We visited this museum many times and we've never been disappointed!
